Heartgard Plus contains two active ingredients:
1) Ivermectin - interferes with the parasite's nerve transmission, causing paralysis and death of the immature heartworms (larvae).
2) Pyrantel pamoate - interferes with the parasite's nerve transmission, causing paralysis and death of intestinal worms. Death of intestinal worms occur when they are exposed to the environment.
